Alright, so those of you who’ve been paying attention and kept with me through my admittedly sporadic schedule might remember that I said I had a new project in the works, oh, four months back. Well, the gist of it is that I’ve been working on a bit of a short fiction thing that I had intended to record and post in an appropriate location. A little bit of classical, fireside story-telling for the modern age, eh? But more or less, I’ve come to the conclusion that actually putting together the audio for that while I’m also writing other things is a bit more work than I can promise on a consistent basis. So while I’m not giving up on that, it’s more of a backburner ‘when I can’ kind of project and I’ll just post the individual ‘episodes’ here when I write them up.
Now with that being said, what is the short fiction I’m writing? Well, in keeping with the theme of classical story-telling and one of my first loves, it’s a bit of an Arthurian romance with a very, very heavy pastiche that I’ll need you guys to play along with. I promise nothing I wrote in the footnotes is a lie and it really was first transcribed in modern English by me. Just also remember that I like to say I’m nowhere near as clever as I like to think I am. So with that in mind, I’ll probably have the first entry up tomorrow. But one more thing before we go, as an overdue sign of good faith:
It’s cookies! Cookies I made for Halloween as you may be able to figure by the shapes. So yes. Quite overdue. And quite delicious! They’re just sugar cookies at base (and not a recipe I can provide since they came from my Better Homes and Garden cookbook), but the glaze is what really sells them. Since they were meant to have an autumnal flair to them (and because I like the flavor), I figured I’d go for maple icing. So I did a bit of shifting to make the maple glaze I used for the donuts I previously work on cookies and voila. Maple cookies. Excellence in our time, hmm?
